A few months ago, Activision said that Destiny two was a sales disappointment and the company was reevaluating how to proceed from in that location. Information technology seems similar this was the best solution the two parties could come up up with. Luckily, the programmer will retain rights to the Destiny franchise going forward. Activision won't accept any part with it in the futurity, and Bungie can brand all the decisions revolving effectually expansions and monetization.
Today, Franchise Director Luke Smith promised "hereafter experiences" in the Destiny universe. Information technology'south unclear if this is a hint towards Destiny three, or the hope of more expansions for Destiny two. We'll just have to await and see. You can read some excerpts from his statement below.
We're continuing to build the content we've promised for the Annual Pass. We've learned a lot from Black Armory that we will apply to future releases, most notably that nosotros'd like the first experiences of content drops to be a better betoken of convergence for the playerbase. In Black Arsenal, we gear up the Ability requirement for the first forge too high, and that meant it wasn't a corking chance to jump into some new content. Nosotros want to find the line betwixt new content that many players tin play, and aspirational content for players to progress toward. We're exploring improvements to catch-up mechanics for players in upcoming seasons... Bungie is committed to Destiny. We created the universe and we agree its future entirely in our hands. The vast majority of the team is hard at work envisioning future experiences, enemies, and ways to play the Guardian yous've been building since 2022. Nosotros're going to keep doing that. We're thinking about what it ways to exist truly independent, what information technology ways to cocky-publish, and crucially, what Destiny'south future tin can now look like for our players.
